23 - 24 Sep 05        Passage Tioman to Pualu Aur    Back to Malaysia East Coast Cruise 2005

Catted the anchor at 0650 and departed the bay which was now populated with 21 naval warships making an R&R stop after a large military excersise.   Light conditions with the wind 'on the nose' until we cleared the south west side of the island, when we found much to our liking a south west wind, although only 4 knots.  Beam and broad reaching the wind picked up to all of 6 - 8 knots and we motorsailed at low engine speed for a comfortable passage.

There are four orange moorings (government installed?) in the pass between the islands but these were taken by local fishing boats.  We opted for one further along at the position shown, though it was rather close to the shore. Picked up the mooring at 1423 for a passage of 35.6 NM at an average speed of 4.7 knots.

The next morning we moved just after daybreak to one of the four government moorings as shown.  That 'passage' added another 0.6 NM to the log!
