20 Aug 05 Passage Pulau Redang to Pulau Perhentian Besar Back to Malaysia East Coast Cruise 2005

With a later than usual departure (thanks to ZEDNA!) we dropped the mooring at 0925.
We had, as usual, light southerly winds which gradually clocked around to the west putting us on a beat as we motor sailed over nearly calm seas.

With reports of fresh spring water available here we went into the southern bay of Perhentian Besar (large). We picked up a mooring (BLUE #1) at the position shown. The 18.55 NM trip was made at an average speed of 4.2 knots.
We soon moved closer to shore to another mooring (BLUE #2) to gain a bit more protection from the west in case of a Sumatran.
The school holidays have begun and the resorts here are fully booked. There is a lot of small boat traffic ... water taxis and dive boats ... which take delight in coming close to see the foreign yacht!
The evening was a bit rocky due to a southwesterly swell but that died down later and we were not bothered during the night.
