31 July - 1 August       At Chukai       Back to Malaysia East Coast Cruise 2005

Here's a panorama of the city from our anchorage.  (Use the browser slider bar to scan to the right)

There are three sets of steps along the wall but at low tides the steps are very high above the water.  We used the last one on the right at the end of the seawall.

See that white building through the trees just to the left of the first set of steps?  It's a mosque with the loudest speaker system known to mankind and has a high distortion level ... which does not help the cleric's lack of musical talent.

It's durian season and they are in plentiful supply in the market and around town.

We surveyed three supermarkets in town and even found Tobasco and Wasabi!

Had a delicious lunch at the 'stuffed crab' restaurant.  A bit expensive ($17) but worth it for a treat and the leftovers became dinner!

Spent the afternoon doing some boat work ... found corroded wiring connectors in the galley salt water pump wiring which, after three years had deteriorated although sealed with shrink tubing.
